Polish-Croatian running event in Varaždin to support two croatian associations
On Sunday (17th September 2017) on Capuchin square in Varaždin (Croatia), PRESS GLASS workers from Croatia and Poland participated – as part of “Run and support” initiative– in two running competitions: 23rd Varaždin Half Marathon and 5-kilometer race. In total, 57 workers took part in the competition, including 25 workers from PRESS GLASS d.o.o. and 32 workers from PRESS GLASS SA.
“This is our second joint Polish-Croatian running event in the colours of “Run and support” initiative. I am glad that thanks to this initiative we can together support people in need and at the same time pursue our sport passions. This year, we managed to raise more than 12 thousand Croatian kunas. We want to distribute the money equally among people who are the care of two associations, which support disabled children – URID and Uz tebe sam z Varaždin – explained Zrinka Čić, local campaign coordinator.
Association for Early Intervention in Varaždin District (URID) is an organisation, which gathers experts in the field of educational prevention and speech therapy, and provides treatment as well as individual educational and speech therapy rehabilitation for children with neurological problems and malformations. The association takes care of 140 children, including 73 children with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, CP and speech disorders.
Association of Support – Together with You was initiated by the parents of children who suffer from cerebral palsy, mental impairment, Down and West syndromes, PUP, ADHD and other disorders of the central nervous system. The organisation manages consulting and education, as well as promotes development and activities to improve children’s psychomotor abilities.
The rules of support provided by PRESS GLASS in Croatia are the same as the rules valid in Poland. For every participant who finished the race as a member of “Run and support” team, PRESS GLASS d.o.o. paid a certain amount for a chosen charitable purpose – the amount was bigger for the race at the distance of 21,1 kilometres and proportionally smaller for the race at the distance of 5 kilometres. The company also donated for good causes the equivalent of start fees, which had been individually paid by participants.
We would like to thank everyone who came to support the participants and our initiative! See you next year.
